01Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Jumpstr ("Jumpstr," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit jumpstr.io, create an account, upload music, or otherwise use our free music distribution service (collectively, the "Service").
By creating a Jumpstr account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
This policy applies to artists, labels, and other users who interact with Jumpstr through our website, app.jumpstr.io, and related support channels.
02Information we collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password, or — if you sign up with Google — your Google account name, email address, and profile information.
Content you upload. Track and album audio files, cover art, metadata (titles, songwriter and performer credits, release dates, genre, ISRC/UPC codes), and any custom record label name you provide.
Payout and financial information. To pay royalties, we collect bank details (such as IBAN and BIC/SWIFT code), your PayPal email address if you choose PayPal, and tax identification information (such as a TIN) where required.
Usage and analytics data. Information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, streaming statistics, and earnings data shown on your dashboard, collected in part through Google Tag Manager and similar analytics tools.
Device and log data. IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, and access timestamps, collected automatically when you use the Service.
Support and communications. Messages you send us through our support chat, email, or the infringement-reporting portal, and any attachments you include.
We do not intentionally collect more information than is reasonably necessary to operate the Service.
03How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account, and authenticate your sign-in
- Distribute your music to streaming and download platforms (such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Tidal, TikTok, and YouTube)
- Calculate, report, and pay out royalties and earnings
- Operate your analytics dashboard, including streaming statistics and royalty reporting
- Respond to support requests and communicate with you about your account or releases
- Investigate and respond to infringement reports or claims
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
- Improve, secure, and develop the Service
- Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
04Cookies & tracking technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies — including Google Tag Manager — on jumpstr.io and app.jumpstr.io to:
- Keep you signed in and remember your preferences (essential cookies)
- Understand how visitors use our site and improve its performance (analytics cookies)
Google Tag Manager may, in turn, deploy additional analytics tags. These tools may collect information such as pages viewed, time on site, and general location derived from your IP address.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service, such as signing in, from working properly.
06Payouts & tax information
Jumpstr is free to use, and we let artists keep 100% of their streaming and sales income — we do not charge distribution fees.
To pay royalties, you provide payout details through your account, which may include your full name as it appears on your bank account, IBAN, BIC/SWIFT code (or local equivalent), a PayPal email address, and tax identification information where required by law.
We use this information only to calculate and send your royalty payments and to meet our tax reporting obligations. We take reasonable steps to verify payout details before sending funds and to protect this information from unauthorized access.
Double-check your bank details before saving them — incorrect details can delay your payment.
07Data retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and royalty-reporting obligations (including after you close your account, since royalties may still be owed or reported).
Uploaded music and related metadata are retained for as long as your release remains distributed. If you remove a release or close your account, we will take it down from distribution partners and delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted to keep it longer — for example, financial records needed for tax purposes, or data needed to resolve a dispute or infringement claim.
08Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal and financial information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration, including encryption of sensitive data such as payout details.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at [email protected].
09International data transfers
Jumpstr serves artists around the world and distributes music to platforms operating globally. As a result, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the one where you live, including countries that may have different data protection laws.
Where we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland to a country that has not been deemed to provide an adequate level of protection, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your information.
10Your rights (EEA, UK & Switzerland)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we process your personal data based on one or more legal grounds: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), our legitimate interests (such as fraud prevention and improving the Service), your consent (such as for certain analytics cookies), and compliance with legal obligations (such as tax reporting).
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal and tax retention obligations
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].
11Your rights (California)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives you certain rights over your personal information.
In the past 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in "Information we collect" above, including identifiers (name, email), financial information (bank and payout details), internet or network activity (usage and analytics data), and commercial information (your distribution and earnings activity). We use and disclose this information for the business purposes described in this policy.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months.
Subject to certain exceptions, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (not applicable, as we do not sell or share)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights
To submit a request, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.
12Children’s privacy
Jumpstr is not directed to children, and you must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK).
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].
13Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
